🌍 Atlantic mile sailing – where the ocean waves begin

When the sea gets deeper and the wind starts blowing from the west – you know you've reached the Atlantic.
It is there, near the islands of La Palma and El Hierro , that real ocean waves and constant trade winds begin, which have carried sailors from Europe across the ocean for centuries.

Our journey is from Tenerife to Madeira , about 500 nautical miles or five nights and four days on the clear open sea. No ports, no beaches – just you, the crew and the sea, breathing in its own rhythm.

⚓ When the sea becomes real

After the last view of Tenerife, the mountains disappear from the horizon and only the vastness remains. By day the sea is blue and soft, but at night it is completely black, except for the moonlight that shimmers on the sail boom and the crests of the waves.
At that moment you realize that you are no longer just sailing – you are at sea .

The wind comes steadily from behind and the yacht moves rhythmically, as if breathing with the waves. The days pass as if time were different: eating, setting the sails, filling the log, a little chat and then silence again.

🌌 Night Watch – Sea and Stars

The night watch is the most magical time. Two in the morning, a sky full of stars, and a wave reflecting them like black glass.
The wind whispers in the rigging, the compass needle glows on the helm, and the whole world seems to stand still for a moment.
When morning begins to dawn and the first light breaks across the water, it feels like you're the only person awake in the world.

🌊 Waves coming from America

Ocean waves are completely different from those in the Mediterranean Sea – long, deep, and slow.
The area around La Palma and El Hierro is where the Atlantic trade winds pick up steam, and it is here that the sea becomes lively.
It's no longer just blue water - it's a breathing force that carries you forward if you can surrender to it.

🧭 Learning and team

Everyone on board participates in watches – usually for 3-4 hours at a time.
Some steer the yacht, others monitor the sails, and still others prepare hot meals.
Someone reads the position from the sky, another writes in the log: “Wind 18 knots, waves 2 meters, heading 035°.”
This creates a team that learns to trust each other and do exactly what the sea allows at the moment.

🌴 Madeira – when the land reappears

In five days, there will be a small gray spot on the horizon. In a few hours, it will become clearer – Madeira .
The smell of warm mountains and the first lights between the rocks mean only one thing – it has been achieved.
You've sailed 500 miles, slept in shifts, seen the sunrise and the stars at night, and learned what it means to be truly present at sea.
